Draytek Smart VPN Client is a tool for connecting securely to your office premises when you are out and about/working from home.  It is free to all Vigor Router users.  Smart VPN enables remote users to connect to the office network using multi-layers of authentication and a 32-digit pre-shared key.  This method of connection is recommended in place of open public ports (which expose private networks to brute force attacks).



PREREQUISITES:  The remote equipment of each end user will require a VPN account on the Draytek Vigor.  Additionally, each remote user will require a one-time setup and configuration of the Smart Client app.  Please contact Serendipiti to discuss your requirements.





1 LAUNCHING VPN CLIENT FROM YOUR TASK BAR


Note. You will only need to perform step 1 after a PC/Laptop restart, or if you have accidentally exited the VPN App from the system tray.  To connect at any other time, please see step 3 below.




From your Windows Task bar, click the Smart VPN Client icon to launch the program:-




The following screen will appear:    


Tip:  if nothing happens when you click the above icon, it means the application is already open in the system tray - see skip to step 3.




Click CONNECT.


"Authenticating" will appear briefly, then the screen above will disappear.


To check you are connected, click the ^ arrow bottom right of your screen:-




You should now see a GREEN icon in the system tray:




If this icon is GREEN, it means your VPN is successfully connected.   

If this icon is GREY, it means you are not connected.  




2 DISCONNECTING YOUR VPN CONNECTION


To disconnect from VPN, click the same ^ arrow shown above, then RIGHT CLICK the GREEN icon:



From the popup, click DISCONNECT:-



You are now disconnected from VPN.





3 RECONNECTING YOUR VPN CONNECTION


To reconnect VPN, click the ^ arrow, then RIGHT CLICK the GREY icon:  


After a few seconds, the grey icon will turn GREEN (confirming you are connected):-








IMPORTANT POINTS


 

If your remote device (home pc / laptop etc) is stolen or lost, please report this to Serendipiti as soon as possible so that we can block your user account.


 

With Draytek Smart VPN client installed, you will notice this icon appear in your Wifi List.  

Please do not attempt to connect using this icon as it will prompt you for credentials not valid to your connection.
